Historic Preservation

I have worked on a wide variety of historic preservation projects, including a number of National Register nominations, historic structure assessments, architectural surveys and reviews, a driving tour, and interpretive plans.

I worked on a complete architectural review of the Monteagle Sunday School Assembly, located in Monteagle, Tennessee. The MSSA was founded in 1882 and modeled on the Chautauqua Institution in New York. It remains active today, and the property includes a number cottages, boarding establishments, public buildings, and a lovely c1930s landscape.

I co-wrote the architectural description and conditions assessment for a historic structure assessment of Cragfont, a c1800 historic house museum in Sumner County, Tennessee.

I worked on an interpretive plan for Glen Leven Farm, a historic plantation property with an 1857 Federal-style house with Greek Revival details. There are 65 acres remaining of the original 640, which includes perhaps the largest surviving area of the Battle of Nashville (1864) and an arboretum.
